Alice Eastwood Partnership
For the better part of a century, Alice Eastwood lived modestly, dedicating her life and livelihood to her passion for botany. The Alice Eastwood Partnership collaborates with 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations to offer and support programs that commemorate her early career in Denver (1879-1892) as a self-trained botanist, who became an important contributor to a better understanding of the flora of the Southern Rocky Mountains.
The mission of the Alice Eastwood Partnership reflects Alice Eastwood “desire to help, not to shine.” Here, this includes supporting::
undergraduates pursuing degrees in botany, ecology, conservation, landscape architecture, horticulture, or environmental science emphasizing native plants;
original systematics research addressing plant biodiversity in the Southern Rocky Mountains emphasizing taxonomy and biogeography;
graduate students and post-doctoral scientists; early career scientists at gardens, museums, and universities; and faculty at predominantly undergraduate institutions;
collaboration among the aforementioned and the institutions they represent;
dissemination of research through presentations at professional meetings and journal publications, as well as presentations and publications directed to lay audiences.
